Wood Treatment
We treat our timber with TANALITH E. wood preservative after cutting and machining to give maximum benefit to our furniture.
We treat to BS EN355-1 'Use Class' 4 – this is the highest class for timber and provides the ultimate protection against direct soil or freshwater contact. TANALISED pressure-treated timber can be used with total confidence in Use Classes 1–4
Use Class Summary
What is TANALISED timber?
TANALISED pressure treated timber is a high-performance product with a guaranteed service life exceeding 15 years depending on its end use (see above Use Class summary).
The latest TANALITH E. wood preservative is approved for use by regulatory authorities and the biocides contained in the preservative are supported under the Biocidal Products Regulation.
The colour of TANALISED pressure treated timber slowly weathers from an initial pale green hue to a warm, honey brown and in the longer term to a natural silver grey. This weathering process does not indicate any loss of preservative protection.
Enhanced protection against the weather can be obtained by using a suitable brush applied water repellent coating. These are particularly effective when applied as a regular maintenance product to the surface of TANALITH pressure treated timber. Always follow the coating manufacturer’s instructions.
